I'm giving it five stars. If starts to fail to open with the keypad that rating will change real fast.

This had everything I needed and at a great price - if you buy it locally.

You can enter your code and get in there quick. Imagine if you needed in there quick and had to dial a combination in dim light or no light. You wouldn't get in.

These digital locks sometimes fail. I needed an alternate way in and that's the skeleton key that can be used once the key pad is removed. This is a crazy looking 6 inch long key with teeth on both sides. No one is going to pick that lock.

It's heavy enough that it would be very difficult to carry off. A small safe, they will just carry off and break into it later.

It has 4 active and 3 passive (hinge side) heavy duty bolts. One bolt is on the top of the door.

Bolts extend into steel to keep the safe locked - not plastic holes on a plastic insert. Hello, it's supposed to be a safe. Didn't want to see very much plastic used at all and certainly no where important.

It has a heavy duty door and the safe itself is heavy gauge.

Batteries are on the outside of the safe - not the inside.

Has carpeted interior. Carpeted shelves - not cheap plastic shelves.

Has metal handle - not cheap plastic handle.

That's my list.

Glad I got this one vs. the bigger three shelf version. This one weighs 170 pounds. I was able it carry it in the house, up a flight of stairs and across the house to the closet where it lives (barely). No dolly. I don't recommend trying that - but I made it. Had it been over 200 pounds - don't think I would have made it on my own (and all my neighbors claim they have back issues when I ask for help on something heavy :) ). This one has plenty of room for what I need. It's bigger than you think and is going to take up more room than you think.

You can buy a safe that has half this volume with tiny bolt and a plastic handle for the same price. Great safe for the money. I have 6 other safes. This is my cheapest but it gets the job done just fine and I believe it would be very difficult to break into.

Carefully consider what you will use it for, where you will put it and your must-have features and buy accordingly. You will probably have it a very long time. Don't let price dictate what you buy.
