The Mail Gator Pedestal locking mailbox is made from durable composite plastic and comes in 6 UV protected appealing colors that look like granite. This Mail Safe was designed by former mail carriers with the most important security issues in mind. The two-piece design is rugged and durable. The Mail Safe mailbox is resistant to high impact from baseball bats and, instead of breaking apart, will instead break-away (mail compartment intact) if struck by a vehicle. Your mail is accessed via the rear door that locks and is the only way to retrieve your mail. Having a rear locking access door allows you to access your mail standing in your yard rather than having to enter the busy street. This mailbox comes with two keys.

Arrived in two pieces for shipping convenience. All parts included as hoped. Washers not designed to fit exact in spot provided in mailbox interior. Screw locations are cumbersome for any but the smallest of hands.

Nice mail reservoir but could be designed to be at least 4-6 inches deeper. The base has plenty of room to elongate the mail storage below the door hatch, thus allowing more mail to be stored for longer periods of time.

When dry fitting the parts in living room, the mail box looked too big. Once you place the mailbox outside and bury the base as instructed, the mailbox size is less massive.

We purchased the black version and was considering the green to blend more into the landscape. No concrete required to install. The base is "T" shaped on bottom to be held in place by the back-filled dirt/clay/stones.

Wish the receiving section was angled more to force mail to slide to the back of the box and down the "chute." No intention to use the mail box for outbound mail due to outbound mail theft in our area so it would be nice to have an optional flag and more angle on the delivery side so confused post-person does not try to balance the mail rather than allowing it to fall into the chute.

The rear hatch could have a more substantial key lock mechanism or build for padlock use or metal cross-bar.

The two parts are joined using 4 small provided screws. There must be a better location for the screws that the hard to reach base corners.

Enough random thoughts...we like it and would purchase again. If this one gets run over by a car or truck I will buy another but this time anchor it with concrete to deter vandalism. That is cut open the top of the base, bury the base with dirt and fill the inside of the base with concrete.

A little pricey but for us it was the only option that meets most of our demands.
