Product Description
With a full 720 watts, this is one of the most powerful jigsaws around. It will cut 4-3/4" wooden beams, 3/4" aluminum or 3/8" steel with ease! Electronic Multi-Material Speed Control gives you the correct constant speed for the material youre sawing - prevents overheating and keeps the saw running smoothly. Patented triple blade guidance with parallel adjustable carbide guides that counteract the lateral pressure on the blade so that the Trion makes straight perpendicular cuts every time. Can set a bevel to 45 degrees on either side, and can even start cuts in wood without a pilot hole. 6 Amp motor, 1" stroke, 1,000-9,000 spm, 4 stage stroke adjustment. Jigsaw includes a blade, splinter guard, Systainer (stackable storage container) and chip deflector.Festool PS 300 EQ 6 Amp Jig Saw Review
I find that this design saw is much easier to handle and more comfortable when making a lot of cuts than the usual top handle design. I got it because I was ripping and notching some ACQ for my deck and my old Craftsman (from the days when they were made of metal in the US) was getting hot enough I had to let it cool. A friend came by who does fancy carpentry and restoration for a living and got his Trion out. It was faster cutting than the Craftsman (both had new blades) and didn't overheat. Between the sacrificial plastic 0 clearance gadget and the pendulum action there is no tear-out even with things like the thin plastic coated MDF or 1/8" plywood.BTW there is no reason to remove the plastic front guard as it has a pointer and line showing where the blade will go.
Its light enough and has so little vibration that I can saw all day even with my arthritis.
With the Festool 490031 Guide Stop it can be used on the guide rails for more precise cuts.
The reason I didn't give it 5 stars isn't the saw; its the case. The liner is thin brittle plastic and lacks provisions for storing blades or accessories although with a few changes there is room. But you can't modify it because of the material, frustrating. I know that its sort of a nit but when I spend $300 on a saw (when I could buy a Bosch 1591EVSK 6.4 Amp Barrel Grip Jigsaw for about 1/2 that) I kind of expect perfection. One other minor nit is there is no switch lockout so to be completely safe you should unplug the cord. With details like interchangeable cords between tools and the locking cord feature that's a little disappointing. However; the switch is well enough protected that accidentally switching the Trion on isn't really a concern.
